Pursuant to §41-16-72, Code of Alabama, 1975, as amended, the Alabama Building Renovation Finance Authority is seeking proposals from qualified design professionals to provide design and construction contract administration services for upgrading an existing fire detection and alarm system in the Alabama Archives and History Building in the State of Alabama Capitol Complex.  

Project Scope:  The scope of the project is intended to upgrade a existing fire detection and alarm system in the original section of the building and the 1970’s Coley Wing addition.  The upgrades are to include smoke detection throughout, manual and automatic initiation, and signal notification meeting current IBC, NFPA 72, and ADA Code criteria.   An existing fire alarm control panel is to be upgraded accordingly.  Preservation of architectural features and finishes in the original building will be of paramount importance to the Owner. 

Scope of Services and Form of Agreement:  The form of agreement will be Alabama Building Commission Forms B-2 and B-2A and the scope of services will include Services A, B, C, D, and E as described therein.  Upon execution of an agreement the design professional will be required to execute a Disclosure Statement as required by Act 2001-955 and certify “…that all workers on this project are either citizens of the United States or are in a proper and legal immigration status that authorizes them to be employed for pay within the United States.”   

Qualifications:  Moving forward with this project expeditiously is the expectation of the Owner; therefore, in addition to demonstrating a history of successfully executing similar projects, applicants must demonstrate the ability to immediately and continuously assign sufficient staff and consultants to the project to produce bid documents in the shortest period of time practicable and to support a reasonable pace of construction.
